Doylestown Hospital is ranked 8th in Pennsylvania and 122 in the United States in Newsweek’s 2023 World’s Best Hospitals annual listing. This is the fifth year in a row Doylestown Hospital was recognized by Newsweek in the prestigious list.
Doylestown Hospital is one of only 27 hospitals in the state to be recognized and has received the extra distinction for being a leader in infection prevention.
“We are truly honored and proud to be named again as one of the World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO of Doylestown Health. “Our dedicated medical staff and outstanding team of Associates are committed to being a regional leader in quality of care and because of that we’re especially pleased to be recognized for infection prevention. As we mark our centennial year of caring for our community, this gives us one more reason to celebrate.”
This award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., a statistics portal and industry ranking provider. Together they developed a complex methodology to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking. The lists were based on four data sources:
- Recommendations from medical experts (doctors, hospitals managers, health care professionals)
- Results from patient surveys
- Hospital quality metrics
- PROMs implementation survey (PROMs are standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their functional well-being and quality of life)
“The world's best hospitals consistently attract the best people and provide the best outcomes for patients…,” said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek’s Global Editor in Chief, in the announcement. “Of all the hospitals in the world, relatively few can do all those things year in and year out. The best belong to a very exclusive club.”
The World’s Best Hospitals 2023 ranking lists the best hospitals in 28 countries: USA, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India, Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, Austria, Thailand, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Colombia and Taiwan.
The awards list can be viewed at Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2023.
